Women’s Bible Studies

Two Bible studies for women at SIF!

Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Study

Continually seeking to be a woman after God’s own heart can have special challenges while living the life of an expat. Our Women’s Ministry seeks to encourage every woman in our fellowship to deepen their devotion and strengthen their service to Christ.  Our desire is to grow in faith through the study of God’s Word, fellowship, and prayer for one another.

“We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory.”  I Thessalonians 2:12

Time: Tuesday mornings at 10:00am – 12:30pm

Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible Study

Dear ladies! We are so very thankful for what the Lord has done during our first months of Bible Studies! We have been able to welcome many new ladies and two babies!, we were honoured to Baptise two of our sisters in Christ, we have been set free from several unhealthy relational habits, some of us have started to study the Bible and all of us have been digging deeper and found even more knowledge, truth and encouragement in the Word of our Holy God! For our next season after Chinese New Year, we will be offering the Alpha Course once again! Traveling further with Paul in our Beth Moore Bible Study ‘To live is Christ’ about the life of the apostle Paul and finish our Woman at the Well Study! We hope and pray we will be able to welcome you once again or for the first time on Wednesday, the 28th of February for our first meeting in the New Season! We are very excited and expectant to see what the Lord has in store for us!

The Alpha Course
Facilitated by Vanessa Loots
Alpha is a series of 11 sessions exploring the Christian faith. It runs all around the globe, in homes, churches, universities & cafes, and everyone’s welcome. No two Alphas look the same, but generally have 3 things in common: food, a talk & good conversation. Bringing people together to build community & get to know each other. The talks (DVD – 30mins) are designed to engage & inspire conversation over 11 weeks. They explore the big issues around Faith & unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why & how do I pray? and How does God guide us? Probably the most important part of any Alpha is the discussion. A chance to share your thoughts & ideas on topics in a small group, hearing from others & contributing your own perspective in an honest, friendly & open environment.

Alpha believes that everyone should have the chance to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and share their point of view; wherever they are in the world.

To Live is Christ is a study by Beth Moore into the life and heart of the apostle Paul. We will discover him as a sold-out servant of Christ who formed close friendships with both men and women. His persistence and undying passion is evidence that he truly encountered the risen Christ. Our aim is to have quickened awareness of the personal calling God has placed on our lives and renewed sense of our purpose in His plan. May our love and devotion for Christ increase so dramatically that He is freed to do in our lives more than our eyes have seen, our ears have heard, and more than our minds have conceived! We will take this exciting journey together with Paul, by land and sea, often exceeding the pages of fiction, for both autumn and spring term. The study consists of 10 lessons, each of which has material worth five days of study. We will take 2 weeks to complete each lesson, and during our meetings watch video one week and have discussion on study material the other week interchangeably. We will seek the glorious presence of Jesus in prayer to break through from all that holds us back from abundant life in Him.

This study will be facilitated by Santa Stopniece.

Santa and her family came to China four years ago. Santa’s vision for women in Suzhou is to discover a more personal and affectionate relationship with Jesus and experience refreshment, empowerment and victory in the Holy Spirit.

She regularly shares on her journey with God in her blog santastopniece.blogspot.com. She also is a part time lecturer at Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University and soon to receive her PhD in Intercultural Communications.

Ann Kovacs is delighted to be co-assisting with Santa who is facilitating this bible study. Ann & her family came to Suzhou 4 years ago. Her life took on a completely new direction ONLY 1 Year Ago when she attended her 1st EVER Bible Study at Esther’s House. Ann attended Church of England Schools, Church & Community Activities between 8-13yrs. However God was separate to her. Ann’s renewal & desire was ‘ignited’ last year during the Bible Study!!  Becoming ‘ALIVE’, Ann began to ‘SEEK’ & know God in her HEART in a New Way! Pursuing a close intimate relationship in Christ. So God began moving ‘very quickly’ in her life! After attending 2 International Living Waters Training Programs in June & July (Philippines & Kansas City) – Ann’s heart began opening to deeper inner healing through Christ. She is SEEING daily how God is revealing His Love more & more in direct response to her deep human longing. Desiring God after years of feeling ‘lost & isolated’ is truly delighting Ann’s heart. She is now encouraging all women to set their hearts in pursuing this ‘beautiful sweet fragrance’ of heaven. Delighting joyfully in God together!

A publication by DESERT STREAM PRESS, Woman at the Well seeks to equip Women to live lives of relational integrity. It shows how the love of Jesus heals and frees women to pursue whole relationships and His purposes for their lives. A study, as introduced by Vivian Soo, one of the co-writers, dedicated to the unseen, unheard and broken ones that I know the Lord sees, hears, cries over and wants to bring into His glorious light and freedom. Come and drink from the Living Waters, become a free Woman at the Well.

This study will be facilitated by Esther Rietberg.

Esther and her family came to China two years ago.

Esther has a heart for God and a heart for women! Her desire is to help and equip women find their trust in God and discover His specific love for each one of His precious daughters! This desire has even become stronger after participating in a Living Waters Leadership Training in the Philippines in June last year. Being healed and freed in a miraculous way through Jesus unfailing love, she even more wants to pursue whole relationships and His purpose for her life and walk this pathway together with other women!

Meets every Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM

Location:  Near Xing Hu Street  and Qing Jian Lake.  For details, email Esther at
